Reasons To Love Football Season

Happy friggen Friday, world. Today is a really, really good day. Why? Well, there was college football on my television last night, for starters, also I'm sporting a Florida State shirt proudly today and that always puts me in a great mood.

Yesterday after mentioning my love for football a few of you commented, admitting that you just don't get it and can not with football. If I was a shitty friend, I'd let you all just go on saying such things with no rebuttal, but I'm a damn good friend and so now we all need to have a chat about a few reasons you should, at the very least, put up with the next few months of solid football bliss.

If you don't know the joys of waking up to kegs, eggs, and beer pong, that would be your first problem here. I don't care if you loathe the sport of football, put on your party hat and get yourself acquainted with the sport of tailgating.

Shit Talking
Friendly competition is fun and exciting. There's nothing I love more than roughing up a Gator fan or two. Get your sailor mouth in check, know your facts, have a couple beers, and talk some shit about your team's rivalry.

Easy Wardrobe
When you have a football team you love, it makes for a pretty simple weekend wardrobe. All you have to do is find an outfit that includes your team's colors and whabam, you're good to go. No need to exhaust that hungover brain of yours.

Bonding With Strangers
I'm not sure if you're aware but the majority of cities have bars that are designated for certain teams. For instance, there's a bar here in town called One Eyed Jacks and it's Florida State Seminole paradise on game days. Throwing up my tomahawk chop with a bar jam packed garnet and gold wearing fans is always exciting and fun.

ESPN's College Gameday
Saturday mornings during football season are meant to be spent eating bacon, drinking a Miller Lite, and watching College Gameday on ESPN. Also, as side note on this one for the ladies, if your man gets out of the shower and you've got College Gameday on the TV, there's a good chance he will never let you go.

Hello, sexy.
So, diehard football fans will absolutely roll their eyes at this one, but just remember that I'm working on converting some non-football fans over here. Sweaty men, grunting, being all competitive, and wearing some seriously tight pants... SEXY. #sorryimnotsorry
Christian, I'll always love you. XOXO, Whit

So, this weekend when your friends invite you out to watch a little football, I expect you to join happily and report back Monday (or Tuesday if you're taking the day off) and tell me you had the greatest time ever. Just do it.

This post also means I get to linkup with Sarah!

And now, let's all back our football loving azz's off. I have been hardcore jamming to this one lately...

It's #backthatazzup Friday!

The purpose: To start our weekend with some fantastic jams.
The station that inspired it: "Back That Azz Up" on Pandora Radio.

Football is life! I love that it's acceptable to wear football apparel every single weekend August-February.

  2. August 30, 2013 at 9:51 AM

These are some of my favorite reasons why I love football season. Saturdays are not complete without college gameday. There sure are some sexy football players out there. I was so sad to know Christian Ponder is now married.

  3. August 30, 2013 at 9:52 AM

I already love football but men in tight pants getting all sweaty is still pretty sexy, convert those girls!

  4. August 30, 2013 at 9:55 AM

Bonding with strangers. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I will sing rockytop to just about anyone who will listen. And several that wont.

  5. August 30, 2013 at 9:56 AM

I love football season! I'm an LSU girl all way, so we can still be friends. My boss however has his office dedicated to UNIVERSITY OF Florida, so I'll be sure to steal one of his stuffed gators on gameday. ...Ok, I won't do that, I'll get fired.

  6. August 30, 2013 at 10:04 AM

I worked for college gameday for 3 years. Actually my last year was Kirk's first year, and I was there with Craig James. Ha, now I feel old.

  7. August 30, 2013 at 10:05 AM

Tailgating + some good friendly shit talking are probably two of my favorite things about football season!

  8. August 30, 2013 at 10:05 AM

I was never into football until I started dating my husband. Then he started inviting me to games and I actually learned what was going on. Now? I'm hooked. We watch every game outside by a fire pit, whether it is preseason in August, or the Super Bowl in 2 feet of snow, we are there!

  9. August 30, 2013 at 10:07 AM

I will say I do love me some football season. But I have one thing to say ms. Whit. GO GATORS! Can we still be fwiends?!

  10. August 30, 2013 at 10:09 AM

Everything about this post makes me happy. EVERYTHING. Our teams have basically the same colors and we both hate SEC teams. I think we would get along famously.

  11. August 30, 2013 at 10:13 AM

This post is my pre-game to my pre-game for this weekend! Ugh I can't wait to get a beer in my hand, a T-shirt on, and watch some football! I also love your reason number 1 to love football! Who doesn't like a good tailgate!?

  12. August 30, 2013 at 10:15 AM

I don't pop molly, I rock Tom Ford

i am a back that azz up slacker today STILL LOVE ME?

and = sexy men. I always wish I could have one day got with a football player so I could squeeze his butt. Instead I once got with a hockey player (2) and had to touch his hair that was almost as long as mine. Hmm...

    :-) happy weekend girlfriend!

  13. August 30, 2013 at 10:22 AM

Good lord how I miss Christian! I was also in love with Chris Rix in my high school days. I don't understand why some people just don't like football.

  14. August 30, 2013 at 10:23 AM

This is perfect, I absolutely love all these reasons, especially tailgating. I have a son now and we take him to some games with us, so tailgating has become a bit more subdued, but no less fun.

  15. snapshotsandwhatnotsAugust 30, 2013 at 10:36 AM

I moved to the states a few months ago (from Ireland) and now I live right beside the football stadium - I had no idea, no idea! that football was going to be so big. I've been introduced to the concept of tail-gating, which sounds awesome and crazy at the same time and no I'm managed to convince myself that going to a game is a must even though I've never actually seen a football game!

  16. August 30, 2013 at 10:40 AM

    let the shit talking begin!!!!

  17. August 30, 2013 at 10:41 AM

One Eyed Jacks is a Seminole hangout? How have I lived in Orlando forever and not known that? I must go there and rock my Seminoles shirt.

  18. August 30, 2013 at 10:47 AM

These are definitely some of my favorite parts of Football season. Sometimes I forget that other people didn't grow up to the sounds of football games and College Gameday on Saturday mornings. Help spread the word to all those non-believers!

  19. August 30, 2013 at 10:49 AM

Yesss easy wardrobe! I have three college football jerseys (2 Ohio State and 1 Ohio U) and two for the Browns, plus a bunch of tshirts. Makes dressing for any weekend super easy.

  20. August 30, 2013 at 11:30 AM

Eggs & kegs oh yes! If only I didn't have a little one waking me up at 6am the next day ;) Not all football players are sister is in the process of divoricing a real college football winner!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend lady!

    Hello Newlywed Life Blog

  21. August 30, 2013 at 11:32 AM

My bf and his friends are obsessed with football. So thanks for the tips ha. I do like the bars where everyone has so much energy for one team. I'm trying to get more into it :)

    Big Apple, Little Bites

  22. August 30, 2013 at 11:36 AM

Haha I posted earlier this week about why I'm not a sports person. But I do love tailgating, wearing Wildcat anything, and bonding with strangers!

  23. August 30, 2013 at 12:08 PM

Ok shit talking is the best. I dated a guy who loves the SF Giants and I love the LA Dodgers (baseball duh) and he couldn't handle the shit talking. Like, he would POUT when I would talk crap about his team. WTF. I want to tailgate with you and wear sweat pants and get drunk.

  24. August 30, 2013 at 12:35 PM

Love this post! It definitely perks my interest in football. It has always seemed like so much fun! I'm from Canada and football isn't as big as deal up here. Can you believe I have never even been to a game? We tend to be more hockey focused. Don't get me wrong, I am big fan of cheering on my Canucks at the pub but tailgating sounds amazing!

    :-) Tabitha

  25. August 30, 2013 at 1:01 PM

Yup still don't get it, but I never got it. hahah I just can't get into it. Sure it is fun for MAYBE one game after that I need to move on.

  26. August 30, 2013 at 1:06 PM

I seriously do not get how people can NOT like football. Beer, food, bonding, smack talk, and sweaty sexy men. Yes please!!!

    PS- Roll Tide!

  27. August 30, 2013 at 1:27 PM

Wow, we really do have frenemy posts today. Mine's better. CHOMP

  28. August 30, 2013 at 1:45 PM

I hate everything about this post. Except Amanda in her gator gear, and your pretty little face. But those clothes? They've GOT to go! :)

The one pic looks like you are wearing lamp shades on yo feets!

  30. August 30, 2013 at 2:10 PM

Woot! Football season is here! ROLL TIDE ROLL! How did you become a FSU fan? Even though our WHOLE family bleeds Crimson, my nephew is a freshman at FSU this year. I'm so excited for him and promised to attend at least one game because he's only two hours away!

  31. August 30, 2013 at 2:12 PM

PS- I am totally ready for some shit talking. I hate the Gators and their fans with a passion (they hate us Bama fans too but eff 'em). I had to steal that ecard-- it's the bomb!

  32. August 30, 2013 at 2:18 PM

Great post, cute girl! Would love for you to check out my blog if you get a chance! XOXO

  33. August 30, 2013 at 2:22 PM

Probably my favorite post you've ever written! Well, its tied for favorite with all your other posts about FSU!

  34. August 30, 2013 at 2:37 PM

i realize you're pretty forceful on this college football thing but for nfl's sake you should focus on redzone for those people that aren't so football-oriented. you can't make me leave my house on sundays for ANYTHING because of it during football season.

  35. August 30, 2013 at 4:09 PM

I'm so happy football season is finally here ..... now if the weather would cool off so I could wear my hoodies without dying of heat exhaustion!!!!

  36. August 30, 2013 at 4:48 PM

    Yay for football season starting!!

  37. August 30, 2013 at 7:31 PM

I'm having a beer, wearing my "Arkansas Girls Do it Better" shirt, and counting down the minutes until 3:30 central time tomorrow when my Hogs take the field. All I can really add to this is a two word addendum to #5: Kirk Herbstreit. He's kinda hot, no? I don't just think that because I'm old, right?

  38. August 30, 2013 at 9:34 PM

Oh, I love me some Herbstreit. And Christian Ponder. And even poor Chris Rix that everyone hated.

  39. August 31, 2013 at 4:51 AM

Ahhhhh so excited about football season and tailgates!!

  40. August 31, 2013 at 10:36 AM

Love this. Happy First Football Saturday! Roll Tide.

  41. August 31, 2013 at 10:58 AM

Completely agree! Loooove College Football and just don't get it when people don't get it!! Go UCF Knights!

  42. August 31, 2013 at 5:48 PM

You know what I like about football season? The snacks and Clay Matthews' ass :)

  43. September 1, 2013 at 6:22 PM

That last one though. The sad thing is when I find the rival team's players more attractive...

Thanks for the love - I love hearing from each and every one of you. It makes my day!
